We’ve been to both New York and Los Angeles and can say they are vastly different places in terms of culture, layout, weather, vibe, and so on. In his two-day exhibit “Borderline,” French-born MICA student Maxime La explores the literal and metaphorical distance between these two places using a variety of media. Check it out at the Middendorf Gallery. Folks occasionally come to Liam Flynn’s to get all old-timey and jam on some folk and Appalachian tunes, and tonight just so happens to be the first anniversary of when they started getting all old-timey (at least collectively at the Station North Irish pub). So come on out to the Baltimore Old Time Jam with your banjo, fiddle, or other instrument for some cake, food, and music. From the Short List: “Portland garage-rockers Havania Whaal plays the Sidebar with Crimson Wave and Jail Solidarity. The Out of Your Head collective mixes and matches musicians at the Windup Space. German power-metal vets Primal Fear headlines Baltimore Soundstage.”
